“‘You must not make for yourselves idols, 1 so you must not set up for yourselves a carved image or a pillar, and you must not place a sculpted stone in your land to bow down before 2 it, for I am the Lord your God.
The two villains arrived and sat opposite him. Then the villains testified against Naboth right before the people, saying, “Naboth cursed God and the king.” So they dragged him 1 outside the city and stoned him to death. 2
So in this way Jacob’s sin will be forgiven, 1 and this is how they will show they are finished sinning: 2 They will make all the stones of the altars 3 like crushed limestone, and the Asherah poles and the incense altars will no longer stand. 4
But if the ox had the habit of goring, and its owner was warned, 1 and he did not take the necessary precautions, 2 and then it killed a man or a woman, the ox must be stoned and the man must be put to death.
and one who misuses 1 the name of the Lord must surely be put to death. The whole congregation must surely stone him, whether he is a foreigner or a native citizen; when he misuses the Name he must be put to death.

Instruct them, ‘Pick up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, from the very place where the priests 1 stand firmly, and carry them over with you and put them in the place where you camp tonight.’”
tell them how the water of the Jordan stopped flowing 1 before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it crossed the Jordan, the water of the Jordan stopped flowing. 2 These stones will be a lasting memorial for the Israelites.”
Adonijah sacrificed sheep, cattle, and fattened steers at the Stone of Zoheleth near En Rogel. He invited all his brothers, the king’s sons, 1 as well as all the men of Judah, the king’s servants.
Also seat two villains opposite him and have them testify, ‘You cursed God and the king.’ Then take him out and stone him to death.”
