After ¹  the city officials ²  had received bail ³  from Jason and the others, they released them.

The one bound to a wife should not seek divorce. The one released from a wife should not seek marriage. ¹ 

A third time he said to them, “Why? What wrong has he done? I have found him guilty ¹  of no crime deserving death. ²  I will therefore flog ³  him and release him.”

For if you refuse to release them ¹  and continue holding them, ²

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed ¹  me to proclaim good news ²  to the poor. ³  He has sent me ⁴  to proclaim release ⁵  to the captives and the regaining of sight ⁶  to the blind, to set free ⁷  those who are oppressed, ⁸ 

The next day, because the commanding officer ¹  wanted to know the true reason ²  Paul ³  was being accused by the Jews, he released him and ordered the chief priests and the whole council ⁴  to assemble. He then brought ⁵  Paul down and had him stand before them.

“Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt that he must release ¹  the Israelites from his land.”

¹ The Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh’s heart is hard; ²  he refuses to release ³  the people.

But if you refuse to release them, then I am going to plague ¹  all your territory with frogs. ²
