But those tenants said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and the inheritance will be ours!’

But when the tenants saw him, they said to one another, ‘This is the heir; let’s kill him so the inheritance will be ours!’

For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.

Is not the cup of blessing that we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ? Is not the bread that we break a sharing in the body of Christ?

But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that the extraordinary power ¹  belongs to God and does not come from us.

You are witnesses, and so is God, as to how holy and righteous and blameless our conduct was toward you who believe.

Thus we must make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by following the same pattern of disobedience.

not abandoning our own meetings, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and even more so because you see the day ¹  drawing near. ² 

Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to conduct ourselves rightly in every respect.

So we prayed to our God and stationed a guard to protect against them ¹  both day and night.

If we had rejected our God, ¹  and spread out our hands in prayer to another god, ² 

We have submitted ¹  to Egypt and Assyria in order to buy food to eat. ² 

and forgive us our debts, as we ourselves ¹  have forgiven our debtors.

And do not lead us into temptation, ¹  but deliver us from the evil one. ² 

We ¹  have come to believe and to know ²  that you are the Holy One of God!” ³ 

for it is impossible ¹  for us not to speak about what we have seen and heard.”

When the ship was caught in it ¹  and could not head into ²  the wind, we gave way to it and were driven ³  along.

even us, whom he has called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles?

Let each of us please his neighbor for his good to build him up.

by purity, by knowledge, by patience, by benevolence, by the Holy Spirit, ¹  by genuine ²  love,
