Absalom instructed his servants, “Look! When Amnon is drunk 1 and I say to you, ‘Strike Amnon down,’ kill him then and there. Don’t fear! Is it not I who have given you these instructions? Be strong and courageous!” 2
Naaman went away angry. He said, “Look, I thought for sure he would come out, stand there, invoke the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the area, and cure the skin disease.
Therefore speak to them and say to them, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: When any one from the house of Israel erects his idols in his heart and sets the obstacle leading to his iniquity before his face, and then consults a prophet, I the Lord am determined to answer him personally according to the enormity of his idolatry. 1
I listened and my stomach churned; 1 the sound made my lips quiver. My frame went limp, as if my bones were decaying, 2 and I shook as I tried to walk. 3 I long 4 for the day of distress to come upon 5 the people who attack us.
But Martha was distracted 1 with all the preparations she had to make, 2 so 3 she came up to him and said, “Lord, don’t you care 4 that my sister has left me to do all the work 5 alone? Tell 6 her to help me.”
I have been crucified with Christ, 1 and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So 2 the life I now live in the body, 3 I live because of the faithfulness of the Son of God, 4 who loved me and gave himself for me.
I am about to bring 1 floodwaters 2 on the earth to destroy 3 from under the sky all the living creatures that have the breath of life in them. 4 Everything that is on the earth will die,
that I must go down 1 and see if they are as wicked as the outcry suggests. 2 If not, 3 I want to know.”
Abraham replied, “Because I thought, 1 ‘Surely no one fears God in this place. They will kill me because of 2 my wife.’
So his mother told him, “Any curse against you will fall on me, 1 my son! Just obey me! 2 Go and get them for me!”
“I left secretly because I was afraid!” 1 Jacob replied to Laban. “I thought 2 you might take your daughters away from me by force. 3

And as for me, I am going to harden 1 the hearts of the Egyptians so that 2 they will come after them, that I may be honored 3 because 4 of Pharaoh and his army and his chariots and his horsemen.
So Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our 1 men and go out, fight against Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand.”
for the life of every living thing 1 is in the blood. 2 So I myself have assigned it to you 3 on the altar to make atonement for your lives, for the blood makes atonement by means of the life. 4
(and I myself will walk in hostility against them and bring them into the land of their enemies), and 1 then their uncircumcised hearts become humbled and they make up for 2 their iniquity,
Then Moses said, “This is how 1 you will know that the Lord has sent me to do all these works, for I have not done them of my own will. 2
And Balaam 1 said to Balak, “Station yourself here 2 by your burnt offering, while I meet the Lord there.
Therefore do not defile the land that you will inhabit, in which I live, for I the Lord live among the Israelites.”
