All the inhabitants of the earth are regarded as nothing. 1 He does as he wishes with the army of heaven and with those who inhabit the earth. No one slaps 2 his hand and says to him, ‘What have you done?’
While I was still speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and presenting my request before the LORD my God concerning his holy mountain 1 –
Although you, O Israel, commit adultery, do not let Judah become guilty! Do not journey to Gilgal! Do not go up to Beth Aven! 1 Do not swear, “As surely as the Lord lives!”
Will I deliver them from the power of Sheol? No, I will not! 1 Will I redeem them from death? No, I will not! O Death, bring on your plagues! 2 O Sheol, bring on your destruction! 3 My eyes will not show any compassion! 4
The sovereign Lord confirms this oath by his very own life. 1 The Lord, the God who commands armies, is speaking: “I despise Jacob’s arrogance; I hate their 2 fortresses. I will hand over to their enemies 3 the city of Samaria 4 and everything in it.”

‘Rather, I will sweep them away in a storm into all the nations they are not familiar with.’ Thus the land had become desolate because of them, with no one crossing through or returning, for they had made the fruitful 1 land a waste.”
If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away! It is better to lose one of your members than to have your whole body thrown into hell. 1
From that time on 1 Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem 2 and suffer 3 many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests, and experts in the law, 4 and be killed, and on the third day be raised.
“Which ones?” he asked. Jesus replied, “Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony,
