He seized the leaders
“Learn this parable from the fig tree: Whenever its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near.
The Lord God of Israel who rules over all
When I saw this, I gave careful consideration to it;
And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unrighteous judge says!
What should you do then, brothers and sisters?
“‘If in spite of these things
Go to the ant, you sluggard;
I will therefore have him flogged
Do not strike them dead suddenly, because then my people might forget the lesson.
I will set my face against that person and will make him an object lesson and a byword
You will become an occasion of horror, a proverb, and an object of ridicule to all the peoples to whom the Lord will drive you.
During his time of trouble King Ahaz was even more unfaithful to the Lord.
Let him not trust in what is worthless,
Can anyone teach
So now, you kings, do what is wise;
Come children! Listen to me! I will teach you what it means to fear the Lord.
I will sing a song that imparts wisdom; I will make insightful observations about the past.
