Now it is ordinarily an eleven-day journey ¹  from Horeb ²  to Kadesh Barnea ³  by way of Mount Seir. ⁴ 

Then he separated them from Jacob by a three-day journey, ¹  while ²  Jacob was taking care of the rest of Laban’s flocks.

We must go ¹  on a three-day journey ²  into the desert and sacrifice ³  to the Lord our God, just as he is telling us.” ⁴ 

So the Israelites set out ¹  on their journeys from the wilderness of Sinai; and the cloud settled in the wilderness of Paran.

But as for you, ¹  turn back and head for the desert by the way to the Red Sea.” ² 

They said to him, “Seek a divine oracle for us, ¹  so we can know if we will be successful on our mission.” ² 

They traveled from the wilderness of Zin and camped in Dophkah.

Then Joseph gave orders to fill ¹  their bags with grain, to return each man’s money to his sack, and to give them provisions for the journey. His orders were carried out. ² 

So the sons of Israel did as he said. ¹  Joseph gave them wagons as Pharaoh had instructed, ²  and he gave them provisions for the journey.

but if the cloud was not lifted up, then they would not journey further until the day it was lifted up. ¹ 

For the cloud of the Lord was on the tabernacle by day, but fire would be ¹  on it at night, in plain view ²  of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

This was the first time they set out on their journey according to the commandment ¹  of the Lord, by the authority ²  of Moses.

The people traveled from Kibroth Hattaavah to Hazeroth, and they stayed at Hazeroth.

So the entire company of Israelites ¹  traveled from Kadesh and came to Mount Hor. ² 

Then he ¹  said to me, “Get up, set out leading ²  the people so they may go and possess ³  the land I promised to give to their ancestors.” ⁴ 

These wineskins we filled were brand new, but look how they have ripped. Our clothes and sandals have worn out because it has been a very long journey.”

no bag ¹  for the journey, or an extra tunic, ²  or sandals or staff, ³  for the worker deserves his provisions.

He instructed them to take nothing for the journey except a staff ¹  – no bread, no bag, ²  no money in their belts –

but (because they assumed that he was in their group of travelers) ¹  they went a day’s journey. Then ²  they began to look for him among their relatives and acquaintances. ³ 

He ¹  said to them, “Take nothing for your ²  journey – no staff, ³  no bag, ⁴  no bread, no money, and do not take an extra tunic. ⁵
