The Lord told Joshua, “Hold out toward Ai the curved sword in your hand, for I am handing the city
But David replied to the Philistine, “You are coming against me with sword and spear and javelin. But I am coming against you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel’s armies, whom you have defied!
Use your spear and lance
Joshua kept holding out his curved sword until Israel had annihilated all who lived in Ai.
