speaking of these things in all his letters. ¹  Some things in these letters ²  are hard to understand, things ³  the ignorant and unstable twist ⁴  to their own destruction, as they also do to the rest of the scriptures. ⁵ 

The Lord confronted ¹  Manasseh and his people, but they paid no attention.

Listen to my instruction ¹  so that you may be wise, ²  and do not neglect it.

But this rabble ¹  who do not know the law are accursed!”

not in lustful passion like the Gentiles who do not know God.

When you see ¹  your neighbor’s ²  ox or sheep going astray, do not ignore it; ³  you must return it without fail ⁴  to your neighbor.

The one who heeds instruction ¹  is on the way to ²  life, but the one who rejects ³  rebuke goes astray.

Now we do not want you to be uninformed, ¹  brothers and sisters, ²  about those who are asleep, ³  so that you will not grieve like the rest who have no hope.

but those ¹  who did not take ²  the word of the Lord seriously left their servants and their cattle ³  in the field.

I summon ¹  my servant, but he does not respond, even though I implore ²  him with my own mouth.

For the one who takes revenge against murderers took notice of the oppressed; ¹  he did not overlook ²  their cry for help ³ 

The wicked are turned back and sent to Sheol; ¹  this is the destiny of ²  all the nations that ignore ³  God,

Why do you look the other way, ¹  and ignore ²  the way we are oppressed and mistreated? ³ 

They ¹  neither know nor understand. They stumble ²  around in the dark, while all the foundations of the earth crumble. ³ 

My zeal ¹  consumes ²  me, for my enemies forget your instructions. ³ 

who leaves ¹  the husband ²  from her younger days, ³  and forgets her marriage covenant ⁴  made before God. ⁵ 

The woman called Folly ¹  is brash, ²  she is naive ³  and does not know ⁴  anything. ⁵ 

Surely ¹  I am more brutish ²  than any other human being, ³  and I do not have human understanding; ⁴ 

But they were indifferent and went away, one to his farm, another to his business.

When you see ¹  your neighbor’s donkey or ox fallen along the road, do not ignore it; ²  instead, you must be sure ³  to help him get the animal on its feet again. ⁴
