and whenever burnt sacrifices were offered to the Lord on the Sabbath and at new moon festivals and assemblies. A designated number were to serve before the Lord regularly in accordance with regulations. 1
All these gold and silver vessels totaled 5,400. 1 Sheshbazzar brought them all along when the captives were brought up from Babylon to Jerusalem.
But there were not enough priests to skin all the animals, 1 so their brothers, the Levites, helped them until the work was finished and the priests could consecrate themselves. (The Levites had been more conscientious about consecrating themselves than the priests.) 2
Solomon consecrated the middle of the courtyard that is in front of the Lord’s temple. He offered burnt sacrifices, grain offerings, 1 and the fat from the peace offerings there, because the bronze altar that Solomon had made was too small to hold all these offerings. 2
