Then in a night vision the mystery was revealed to Daniel. So Daniel praised 1 the God of heaven,
“‘Therefore, this is what the sovereign Lord says to them: Look, I myself will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep.
He asked them to pray for mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery so that he 1 and his friends would not be destroyed along with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.
Daniel replied to the king, “The mystery that the king is asking about is such that no wise men, astrologers, magicians, or diviners can possibly disclose it to the king.
The Lord will terrify them, 1 for 2 he will weaken 3 all the gods of the earth. All the distant nations will worship the Lord in their own lands. 4
and whether the land is rich or poor, and whether or not there are forests in it. And be brave, 1 and bring back some of the fruit of the land.” Now it was the time of year 2 for the first ripe grapes. 3
The king replied to Daniel, “Certainly your God is a God of gods and Lord of kings and revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery!”
