Then I said, “Oh, Lord God, 1 look! 2 The prophets are telling them that you said, 3 ‘You will not experience war or suffer famine. 4 I will give you lasting peace and prosperity in this land.’” 5
I did not send those prophets, though they claim to be prophesying in my name. They may be saying, ‘No war or famine will happen in this land.’ But I, the Lord, say this about 1 them: ‘War and starvation will kill those prophets.’ 2
I will shoot against them deadly, 1 destructive 2 arrows of famine, 3 which I will shoot to destroy you. 4 I will prolong a famine on you and will remove the bread supply. 5
“For this is what the sovereign Lord says: How much worse will it be when I send my four terrible judgments – sword, famine, wild animals, and plague – to Jerusalem 1 to kill both people and animals!
