“Take the Levites from among the Israelites and purify 1 them.
“Separate yourselves 1 from among this community, 2 that I may consume them in an instant.”
The Lord spoke face to face with you at the mountain, from the middle of the fire.
From harm and violence he will defend them; 1 he will value their lives. 2
