She said, “Allow Abishag the Shunammite to be given to your brother Adonijah as a wife.”
He told his servant Gehazi, “Ask the Shunammite woman to come here.” 1 So he did so and she came to him. 2
So they looked through all Israel 1 for a beautiful young woman and found Abishag, a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.
So Bathsheba visited the king in his private quarters. 1 (The king was very old, and Abishag the Shunammite was serving the king.)
He said, “Please ask King Solomon if he would give me Abishag the Shunammite as a wife, for he won’t refuse you.” 1
Elisha 1 called to Gehazi and said, “Get the Shunammite woman.” So he did so 2 and she came to him. He said to her, “Take your son.”
King Solomon answered his mother, “Why just request Abishag the Shunammite for him? 1 Since he is my older brother, you should also request the kingdom for him, for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab son of Zeruiah!”
So she went to visit 1 the prophet at Mount Carmel. When he 2 saw her at a distance, he said to his servant Gehazi, “Look, it’s the Shunammite woman.
