the people whom I formed for myself, so they might praise me.” 1
The wicked arrogantly chase the oppressed; 1 the oppressed are trapped 2 by the schemes the wicked have dreamed up. 3
Protect me from 1 the wicked men who attack 2 me, my enemies who crowd around me for the kill. 3
I will instruct and teach you 1 about how you should live. 2 I will advise you as I look you in the eye. 3
They sweep by like the wind and pass on. 1 But the one who considers himself a god will be held guilty.” 2
By your loyal love you will lead 1 the people whom 2 you have redeemed; you will guide 3 them by your strength to your holy dwelling place.
The nations fell 1 into the pit they had made; their feet were caught in the net they had hidden. 2
You, Lord, will protect them; 1 you will continually shelter each one from these evil people, 2
You will free me 1 from the net they hid for me, for you are my place of refuge.
God has declared one principle; two principles I have heard: 1 God is strong, 2
God has decreed that you will be powerful. 1 O God, you who have acted on our behalf, demonstrate your power,
Fear and dread 1 will fall 2 on them; by the greatness 3 of your arm they will be as still as stone 4 until 5 your people pass by, O Lord, until the people whom you have bought 6 pass by.
Even when my strength leaves me, 1 you watch my footsteps. 2 In the path where I walk they have hidden a trap for me.
May I hear about your loyal love in the morning, 1 for I trust in you. Show me the way I should go, 2 because I long for you. 3
Who handed Jacob over to the robber? Who handed Israel over to the looters? 1 Was it not the Lord, against whom we sinned? They refused to follow his commands; they disobeyed his law. 2
