Joseph positioned them; 1 he put Ephraim on his right hand across from Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh on his left hand across from Israel’s right hand. Then Joseph brought them closer to his father. 2
Samson took hold of the two middle pillars that supported the temple 1 and he leaned against them, with his right hand on one and his left hand on the other.
This is what the Lord says to his chosen 1 one, to Cyrus, whose right hand I hold 2 in order to subdue nations before him, and disarm kings, 3 to open doors before him, so gates remain unclosed:
The Lord swears an oath by his right hand, by his strong arm: 1 “I will never again give your grain to your enemies as food, and foreigners will not drink your wine, which you worked hard to produce.
Into his right hand 1 comes the portent for Jerusalem – to set up battering rams, to give the signal 2 for slaughter, to shout out the battle cry, 3 to set up battering rams against the gates, to erect a siege ramp, to build a siege wall.
