Take notice of this, 1 you ignorant people! 2 You fools, when will you ever understand?
They should gather all the excess food 1 during these good years that are coming. By Pharaoh’s authority 2 they should store up grain so the cities will have food, 3 and they should preserve it. 4
Azmaveth son of Adiel was in charge of the king’s storehouses; Jonathan son of Uzziah was in charge of the storehouses in the field, in the cities, in the towns, and in the towers.
When the seventh month arrived and the Israelites 1 were living 2 in their 3 towns, the people assembled 4 in 5 Jerusalem. 6

Joseph 1 collected all the excess food 2 in the land of Egypt during the seven years and stored it in the cities. 3 In every city he put the food gathered from the fields around it.
So the leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem, 1 while the rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of every ten to settle in Jerusalem, the holy city, while the other nine 2 remained in other cities.
