When he drank some of the wine, he got drunk and uncovered himself ¹  inside his tent.

So listen to this, oppressed one, who is drunk, but not from wine!

I trampled nations in my anger, I made them drunk ¹  in my rage, I splashed their blood on the ground.” ² 

I will make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword will devour flesh – the blood of the slaughtered and captured, the chief ¹  of the enemy’s leaders!’”

So he ¹  said to her, “How often do you intend to get drunk? Put away your wine!”

You will be shocked and amazed! ¹  You are totally blind! ²  They are drunk, ³  but not because of wine; they stagger, ⁴  but not because of beer.

“Moab has vaunted itself against me. So make him drunk with the wine of my wrath ¹  until he splashes ²  around in his own vomit, until others treat him as a laughingstock.

You too will act like drunkards; ¹  you will go into hiding; ²  you too will seek refuge from the enemy.

Then the Lord said to me, ¹  “Tell them that the Lord God of Israel who rules over all ²  says, ³  ‘Drink this cup ⁴  until you get drunk and vomit. Drink until you fall down and can’t get up. ⁵  For I will send wars sweeping through you.’ ⁶ 

You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but are never filled. You drink, but are still thirsty. You put on clothes, but are not warm. Those who earn wages end up with holes in their money bags.’” ¹
