So they called Rebekah and asked her, “Do you want 1 to go with this man?” She replied, “I want to go.”
So they sent their sister Rebekah on her way, accompanied by her female attendant, with Abraham’s servant and his men.
Rebekah looked up 1 and saw Isaac. She got down from her camel
Isaac loved Esau because he had a taste for fresh game, 1 but Rebekah loved 2 Jacob.
Then he 1 brought out gold, silver jewelry, and clothing and gave them to Rebekah. He also gave valuable gifts to her brother and to her mother.
They blessed Rebekah with these words: 1 “Our sister, may you become the mother 2 of thousands of ten thousands! May your descendants possess the strongholds 3 of their enemies.”
Then Isaac brought Rebekah 1 into his mother Sarah’s tent. He took her 2 as his wife and loved her. 3 So Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death. 4
When Isaac was forty years old, he married Rebekah, 1 the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan Aram and sister of Laban the Aramean. 2
Isaac prayed to 1 the Lord on behalf of his wife because she was childless. The Lord answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant.
Now Rebekah had been listening while Isaac spoke to his son Esau. 1 When Esau went out to the open fields to hunt down some wild game and bring it back, 2
Rebekah said to her son Jacob, “Look, I overheard your father tell your brother Esau,
“But Esau my brother is a hairy man,” Jacob protested to his mother Rebekah, “and I have smooth skin! 1
Then Rebekah took her older son Esau’s best clothes, which she had with her in the house, and put them on her younger son Jacob.
So Isaac sent Jacob on his way, and he went to Paddan Aram, to Laban son of Bethuel the Aramean and brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau.
When Jacob explained 1 to Rachel that he was a relative of her father 2 and the son of Rebekah, she ran and told her father.
