And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Then when desire conceives, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is full grown, it gives birth to death.
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Extend your hand toward the sky 1 that there may be 2 hail in all the land of Egypt, on people and on animals, 3 and on everything that grows 4 in the field in the land of Egypt.”
The Lord said to Moses, “Extend your hand over the land of Egypt for 1 the locusts, that they may come up over the land of Egypt and eat everything that grows 2 in the ground, everything that the hail has left.”
He, 1 the God who leads you, will expel the nations little by little. You will not be allowed to destroy them all at once lest the wild animals overrun you.
Messengers 1 told David what had happened, 2 so he summoned them, for the men were thoroughly humiliated. The king said, “Stay in Jericho 3 until your beards have grown again; then you may come back.”
His dominion will be vast 1 and he will bring immeasurable prosperity. 2 He will rule on David’s throne and over David’s kingdom, 3 establishing it 4 and strengthening it by promoting justice and fairness, 5 from this time forward and forevermore. The Lord’s intense devotion to his people 6 will accomplish this.
O sky, rain down from above! Let the clouds send down showers 1 of deliverance! Let the earth absorb it 2 so salvation may grow, 3 and deliverance may sprout up 4 along with it. I, the Lord, create it. 5
He sprouted up like a twig before God, 1 like a root out of parched soil; 2 he had no stately form or majesty that might catch our attention, 3 no special appearance that we should want to follow him. 4
For just as the ground produces its crops and a garden yields its produce, so the sovereign Lord will cause deliverance 1 to grow, and give his people reason to praise him in the sight of all the nations. 2
‘for there will be a peaceful time of sowing, the vine will produce its fruit and the ground its yield, and the skies 1 will rain down dew. Then I will allow the remnant of my people to possess all these things.
All the trees of the field will know that I am the Lord. I make the high tree low; I raise up the low tree. I make the green tree wither, and I make the dry tree sprout. I, the Lord, have spoken, and I will do it!’”
How can I give you up, 1 O Ephraim? How can I surrender you, O Israel? How can I treat you like Admah? How can I make you like Zeboiim? I have had a change of heart! 2 All my tender compassions are aroused! 3
