“Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way by the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles –
So 1 they came to the other side of the lake, to the region of the Gerasenes. 2
After this 1 Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (also called the Sea of Tiberias). 2
When they found him on the other side of the lake, 1 they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?” 2
When evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea and he was alone on the land.
When they saw him walking on the water 1 they thought he was a ghost. They 2 cried out,
After this 1 Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias. 2 Now this is how he did so. 3
But he must ask in faith without doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed around by the wind.
When 1 the disciples saw him walking on the water 2 they were terrified and said, “It’s a ghost!” and cried out with fear.
“And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, 1 and on the earth nations will be in distress, 2 anxious 3 over the roaring of the sea and the surging waves.
got into a boat, and started to cross the lake 1 to Capernaum. 2 (It had already become dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them.) 3
Then, when they had rowed about three or four miles, 1 they caught sight of Jesus walking on the lake, 2 approaching the boat, and they were frightened.
And Isaiah cries out on behalf of Israel, “Though the number of the children 1 of Israel are as the sand of the sea, only the remnant will be saved,
For I do not want you to be unaware, 1 brothers and sisters, 2 that our fathers were all under the cloud and all passed through the sea,
wild sea waves, 1 spewing out the foam of 2 their shame; 3 wayward stars 4 for whom the utter depths of eternal darkness 5 have been reserved.
Then 1 the second angel blew his trumpet, and something like a great mountain of burning fire was thrown into the sea. A 2 third of the sea became blood,
Then 1 the angel I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven
Then 1 I saw a beast coming up out of the sea. It 2 had ten horns and seven heads, and on its horns were ten diadem crowns, 3 and on its heads a blasphemous name. 4
“But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, 1 it would be better for him to have a huge millstone 2 hung around his neck and to be drowned in the open sea. 3
He 1 saw them straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. As the night was ending, 2 he came to them walking on the sea, 3 for 4 he wanted to pass by them. 5
