In his teaching Jesus 1 also said, “Watch out for the experts in the law. 2 They like walking 3 around in long robes and elaborate greetings 4 in the marketplaces,
Then 1 as they went into the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe 2 sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed.
Then 1 one of the elders asked 2 me, “These dressed in long white robes – who are they and where have they come from?”
But the father said to his slaves, 1 ‘Hurry! Bring the best robe, 2 and put it on him! Put a ring on his finger 3 and sandals 4 on his feet!
“Beware 1 of the experts in the law. 2 They 3 like walking around in long robes, and they love elaborate greetings 4 in the marketplaces and the best seats 5 in the synagogues 6 and the places of honor at banquets.
Each 1 of them was given a long white robe and they were told to rest for a little longer, until the full number was reached 2 of both their fellow servants 3 and their brothers who were going to be killed just as they had been.
Blessed are those who wash their robes so they can have access 1 to the tree of life and can enter into the city by the gates.
After these things I looked, and here was 1 an enormous crowd that no one could count, made up of persons from every nation, tribe, 2 people, and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb dressed in long white robes, and with palm branches in their hands.
So 1 I said to him, “My lord, you know the answer.” 2 Then 3 he said to me, “These are the ones who have come out of the great tribulation. They 4 have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb!
