And the disciples were filled with joy ¹  and with the Holy Spirit.

Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled:

so that what was spoken by Isaiah the prophet would be fulfilled: ¹ 

This fulfilled what was spoken by Isaiah the prophet: ¹ 

This ¹  took place to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet: ² 

Fill up then the measure of your ancestors!

How then would the scriptures that say it must happen this way be fulfilled?”

Instead your hearts are filled with sadness ¹  because I have said these things to you.

For these things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled, “Not a bone of his will be broken.” ¹ 

You have made known to me the paths of life; you will make me full of joy with your presence.’ ¹ 

Now after some days had passed, the Jews plotted ¹  together to kill him,

We are also ready to punish every act of disobedience, ¹  whenever your obedience is complete.

And do not get drunk with wine, which ¹  is debauchery, ²  but be filled by the Spirit, ³ 

filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God.

As I remember your tears, I long to see you, ¹  so that I may be filled with joy.

Thus ¹  we are writing these things so that ²  our ³  joy may be complete. ⁴ 

This all happened so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet would be fulfilled:

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have not come to abolish these things but to fulfill them. ¹ 

And the child grew and became strong, ¹  filled with wisdom, ²  and the favor ³  of God ⁴  was upon him.

Then ¹  he began to tell them, “Today ²  this scripture has been fulfilled even as you heard it being read.” ³
