He told them, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” 1 So they threw the net, 2 and were not able to pull it in because of the large number of fish.
Meanwhile the other disciples came with the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from land, only about a hundred yards. 1
So Simon Peter went aboard and pulled the net to shore. It was 1 full of large fish, one hundred fifty-three, 2 but although there were so many, the net was not torn.
Then 1 he instructed the crowds to sit down on the grass. He took the five loaves and two fish, and looking up to heaven he gave thanks and broke the loaves. He gave them to the disciples, 2 who in turn gave them to the crowds. 3
But so that we don’t offend them, go to the lake and throw out a hook. Take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth, you will find a four drachma coin. 1 Take that and give it to them for me and you.”
But he said to them, “You 1 give them something to eat.” They 2 replied, 3 “We have no more than five loaves and two fish – unless 4 we go 5 and buy food 6 for all these people.”
