For we would not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some of those who recommend themselves. But when they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are without understanding. 1
In the same way 1 husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but 1 the one who humbles 2 himself will be exalted.”
For none of us lives for himself and none dies for himself.
Put yourselves to the test to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize regarding yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you – unless, indeed, you fail the test! 1
But if we examined ourselves, we would not be judged.
Little children, guard yourselves from idols. 1
For just as the Father has life in himself, thus he has granted the Son to have life in himself,
Not that we are adequate 1 in ourselves to consider anything as if it were coming from ourselves, but our adequacy 2 is from God,

You are looking at outward appearances. 1 If anyone is confident that he belongs to Christ, he should reflect on this again: Just as he himself belongs to Christ, so too do we.
Let each one examine 1 his own work. Then he can take pride 2 in himself and not compare himself with 3 someone else.
Nevertheless, 1 each one of you must also love his own wife as he loves himself, 2 and the wife must 3 respect 4 her husband.
