Then 1 the second angel blew his trumpet, and something like a great mountain of burning fire was thrown into the sea. A 2 third of the sea became blood,
Then 1 I saw something like a sea of glass 2 mixed with fire, and those who had conquered 3 the beast and his image and the number of his name. They were standing 4 by 5 the sea of glass, holding harps given to them by God. 6
And he said, 1 “Go!” So 2 they came out and went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep slope into the lake and drowned in the water.
“Woe to you, experts in the law 1 and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You cross land and sea to make one convert, 2 and when you get one, 3 you make him twice as much a child of hell 4 as yourselves!
Jesus 1 gave them permission. 2 So 3 the unclean spirits came out and went into the pigs. Then the herd rushed down the steep slope into the lake, and about two thousand were drowned in the lake.
“If anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a huge millstone 1 tied around his neck and to be thrown into the sea.
When they heard this, they raised their voices to God with one mind 1 and said, “Master of all, 2 you who made the heaven, the earth, 3 the sea, and everything that is in them,
So they slipped 1 the anchors 2 and left them in the sea, at the same time loosening the linkage 3 that bound the steering oars 4 together. Then they hoisted 5 the foresail 6 to the wind and steered toward 7 the beach.
Then 1 I saw another angel ascending from the east, 2 who had 3 the seal 4 of the living God. He 5 shouted out with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given permission 6 to damage the earth and the sea: 7
Therefore you heavens rejoice, and all who reside in them! But 1 woe to the earth and the sea because the devil has come down to you! He 2 is filled with terrible anger, for he knows that he only has a little time!”
He declared 1 in a loud voice: “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has arrived, and worship the one who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water!”
Next, 1 the second angel 2 poured out his bowl on the sea and it turned into blood, like that of a corpse, and every living creature that was in the sea died.
because in a single hour such great wealth has been destroyed!” 1 And every ship’s captain, 2 and all who sail along the coast 3 – seamen, and all who 4 make their living from the sea, stood a long way off
Then 1 one powerful angel picked up a stone like a huge millstone, threw it into the sea, and said, “With this kind of sudden violent force 2 Babylon the great city will be thrown down 3 and it will never be found again!
But so that we don’t offend them, go to the lake and throw out a hook. Take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth, you will find a four drachma coin. 1 Take that and give it to them for me and you.”
Jesus 1 answered them, “I tell you the truth, 2 if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen.
I tell you the truth, 1 if someone says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.
Then the disciple whom 1 Jesus loved 2 said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” So Simon Peter, when he heard that it was the Lord, tucked in his outer garment (for he had nothing on underneath it), 3 and plunged 4 into the sea.
“Men, why are you doing these things? We too are men, with human natures 1 just like you! We are proclaiming the good news to you, so that you should turn 2 from these worthless 3 things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, 4 the sea, and everything that is in them.
and swore by the one who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and what is in it, and the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it, “There will be no more delay! 1
