When 1 those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said, “Lord, should 2 we use our swords?” 3
When 1 he saw one of them being hurt unfairly, 2 Moses 3 came to his defense 4 and avenged the person who was mistreated by striking down the Egyptian.
Then 1 Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ 2
Then 1 one of them 2 struck the high priest’s slave, 3 cutting off his right ear.
Immediately an angel of the Lord 1 struck 2 Herod 3 down because he did not give the glory to God, and he was eaten by worms and died. 4
Then Jesus said to them, “This night you will all fall away because of me, for it is written: ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’ 1
But 1 one of those with Jesus grabbed 2 his sword, drew it out, and struck the high priest’s slave, 3 cutting off his ear.
Suddenly 1 an angel of the Lord 2 appeared, and a light shone in the prison cell. He struck 3 Peter on the side and woke him up, saying, “Get up quickly!” And the chains fell off Peter’s 4 wrists. 5
These two have the power 1 to close up the sky so that it does not rain during the time 2 they are prophesying. They 3 have power 4 to turn the waters to blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague whenever they want.
From his mouth extends a sharp sword, so that with it he can strike the nations. 1 He 2 will rule 3 them with an iron rod, 4 and he stomps the winepress 5 of the furious 6 wrath of God, the All-Powerful. 7
