Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the scriptures: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. 1 This is from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’? 2
The tax collector, however, stood 1 far off and would not even look up 2 to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, be merciful 3 to me, sinner that I am!’ 4
Don’t you say, 1 ‘There are four more months and then comes the harvest?’ I tell you, look up 2 and see that the fields are already white 3 for harvest!
Then Jesus, when he looked up 1 and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, said to Philip, “Where can we buy bread so that these people may eat?”
He replied, 1 “The man called Jesus made mud, 2 smeared it 3 on my eyes and told me, 4 ‘Go to Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and was able to see.” 5
So the Pharisees asked him again how he had gained his sight. 1 He replied, 2 “He put mud 3 on my eyes and I washed, and now 4 I am able to see.”
But we do not know how he is now able to see, nor do we know who caused him to see. 1 Ask him, he is a mature adult. 2 He will speak for himself.”
The man replied, 1 “This is a remarkable thing, 2 that you don’t know where he comes from, and yet he caused me to see! 3
When Jesus had finished saying these things, he looked upward 1 to heaven 2 and said, “Father, the time 3 has come. Glorify your Son, so that your 4 Son may glorify you –
But Peter sent them all outside, 1 knelt down, 2 and prayed. Turning 3 to the body, he said, “Tabitha, get up.” Then she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up. 4
to open their eyes so that they turn 1 from darkness to light and from the power 2 of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share 3 among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’
But just as it is written, “Things that no eye has seen, or ear heard, or mind imagined, 1 are the things God has prepared for those who love him.” 2
The eye cannot say to the hand, “I do not need you,” nor in turn can the head say to the foot, “I do not need you.”
– since the eyes of your 1 heart have been enlightened 2 – so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, 3 what is the wealth of his glorious 4 inheritance in the saints,
This is what we proclaim to you: 1 what was from the beginning, 2 what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and our hands have touched (concerning the word of life –
But the one who hates his fellow Christian 1 is in the darkness, walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. 2
because all that is in the world (the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the arrogance produced by material possessions) 1 is not from the Father, but is from the world.
(Look! He is returning with the clouds, 1 and every eye will see him, even 2 those who pierced him, 3 and all the tribes 4 on the earth will mourn because 5 of him. This will certainly come to pass! 6 Amen.) 7
“To 1 the angel of the church in Thyatira write the following: 2 “This is the solemn pronouncement of 3 the Son of God, the one who has eyes like a fiery flame 4 and whose feet are like polished bronze: 5
take my advice 1 and buy gold from me refined by fire so you can become rich! Buy from me 2 white clothing so you can be clothed and your shameful nakedness 3 will not be exposed, and buy eye salve 4 to put on your eyes so you can see!
