And this is the testimony: God 1 has given us eternal life, 2 and this life is in his Son.
Demetrius 1 has been testified to by all, even by the truth itself. We also testify to him, 2 and you know that our testimony is true.
(The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has testified concerning his Son.) 1
So 1 I threw myself down 2 at his feet to worship him, but 3 he said, “Do not do this! 4 I am only 5 a fellow servant 6 with you and your brothers 7 who hold to the testimony about 8 Jesus. Worship God, for the testimony about Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
Now 1 this was 2 John’s 3 testimony 4 when the Jewish leaders 5 sent 6 priests and Levites from Jerusalem 7 to ask him, “Who are you?” 8
I, John, your brother and the one who shares 1 with you in the persecution, kingdom, and endurance that 2 are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony about Jesus. 3
Now 1 when the Lamb opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been violently killed 2 because of the word of God and because of the testimony they had given.
When 1 they have completed their testimony, the beast that comes up from the abyss will make war on them and conquer 2 them and kill them.
But 1 they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives 2 so much that they were afraid to die.
So 1 the dragon became enraged at the woman and went away to make war on the rest of her children, 2 those who keep 3 God’s commandments and hold to 4 the testimony about Jesus. 5 (12:18) And the dragon 6 stood 7 on the sand 8 of the seashore. 9
“But I have a testimony greater than that from John. For the deeds 1 that the Father has assigned me to complete – the deeds 2 I am now doing – testify about me that the Father has sent me.
Jesus answered, 1 “Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is true, because I know where I came from and where I am going. But you people 2 do not know where I came from or where I am going. 3
Then 1 I saw thrones and seated on them were those who had been given authority to judge. 2 I also saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of the testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. These 3 had not worshiped the beast or his image and had refused to receive his mark on their forehead or hand. They 4 came to life 5 and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
