As I watched, I noticed 1 a windstorm 2 coming from the north – an enormous cloud, with lightning flashing, 3 such that bright light 4 rimmed it and came from 5 it like glowing amber 6 from the middle of a fire.
He answered, “But I see four men, untied and walking around in the midst of the fire! No harm has come to them! And the appearance of the fourth is like that of a god!” 1
The shields of his warriors are dyed red; 1 the mighty soldiers are dressed in scarlet garments. 2 The metal fittings 3 of the chariots 4 shine like 5 fire 6 on the day of battle; 7 the soldiers brandish 8 their spears. 9
Ask the Lord for rain in the season of the late spring rains 1 – the Lord who causes thunderstorms – and he will give everyone showers of rain and green growth in the field.
Howl, fir tree, because the cedar has fallen; the majestic trees have been destroyed. Howl, oaks of Bashan, because the impenetrable forest has fallen.
If I give away everything I own, and if I give over my body in order to boast, 1 but do not have love, I receive no benefit.

Then 1 there were flashes of lightning, roaring, 2 and crashes of thunder, and there was a tremendous earthquake – an earthquake unequaled since humanity 3 has been on the earth, so tremendous was that earthquake.
But you must obey me and set the Sabbath day apart to me. You must not carry any loads in through 1 the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. If you disobey, I will set the gates of Jerusalem on fire. It will burn down all the fortified dwellings in Jerusalem and no one will be able to put it out.’”
This is what the Lord who rules over all 1 says, “Babylon’s thick wall 2 will be completely demolished. 3 Her high gates will be set on fire. The peoples strive for what does not satisfy. 4 The nations grow weary trying to get what will be destroyed.” 5
and say to the scrub land of the Negev, ‘Hear the word of the Lord: This is what the sovereign Lord says: Look here, 1 I am about to start a fire in you, 2 and it will devour every green tree and every dry tree in you. The flaming fire will not be extinguished, and the whole surface of the ground from the Negev to the north will be scorched by it.
The descendants of Jacob will be a fire, and the descendants of Joseph a flame. The descendants of Esau will be like stubble. They will burn them up and devour them. There will not be a single survivor 1 of the descendants of Esau!” Indeed, the Lord has spoken it.
