Therefore, as flaming fire 1 devours straw, and dry grass disintegrates in the flames, so their root will rot, and their flower will blow away like dust. 2 For they have rejected the law of the Lord who commands armies, they have spurned the commands 3 of the Holy One of Israel. 4
Look, all of you who start a fire and who equip yourselves with 1 flaming arrows, 2 walk 3 in the light 4 of the fire you started and among the flaming arrows you ignited! 5 This is what you will receive from me: 6 you will lie down in a place of pain. 7

In the shadows of the walls of Heshbon those trying to escape will stand helpless. For a fire will burst forth from Heshbon. Flames will shoot out from the former territory of Sihon. They will burn the foreheads of the people of Moab, the skulls of those war-loving people. 1
