Necho 1 sent messengers to him, saying, “Why are you opposing me, O king of Judah? 2 I am not attacking you today, but the kingdom with which I am at war. 3 God told me to hurry. Stop opposing God, who is with me, or else he will destroy you.” 4
I sent all my servants the prophets to warn you over and over again. They said, “Every one of you, stop doing the evil things you have been doing and do what is right. 1 Do not pay allegiance to other gods 2 and worship them. Then you can continue to live in this land that I gave to you and your ancestors.” But you did not pay any attention or listen to me.
But now, Jeremiah, today I will set you free 1 from the chains on your wrists. If you would like to come to Babylon with me, come along and I will take care of you. 2 But if you prefer not to come to Babylon with me, you are not required to do so. 3 You are free to go anywhere in the land you want to go. 4 Go wherever you choose.” 5
“The rest, on both sides of the holy allotment and the property of the city, will belong to the prince. Extending from the eight and a quarter miles 1 of the holy allotment to the east border, and westward from the eight and a quarter miles 2 to the west border, alongside the portions, it will belong to the prince. The holy allotment and the sanctuary of the temple will be in the middle of it.
