just as I also try to please everyone in all things. I do not seek my own benefit, but the benefit ¹  of many, so that they may be saved.

Now, brothers and sisters, ¹  if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I help you unless I speak to you with a revelation or with knowledge or prophecy or teaching?

For all these things are for your sake, so that the grace that is including ¹  more and more people may cause thanksgiving to increase ²  to the glory of God.

I became a servant of the church according to the stewardship ¹  from God – given to me for you – in order to complete ²  the word of God,

I have applied these things to myself and Apollos because of you, brothers and sisters, ¹  so that through us you may learn “not to go beyond what is written,” so that none of you will be puffed up in favor of the one against the other.

if it is to be acceptable for your benefit ¹  it must be a flawless male from the cattle, sheep, or goats.

You must not present anything that has a flaw, ¹  because it will not be acceptable for your benefit. ² 

When you sacrifice a thanksgiving offering to the Lord, you must sacrifice it so that it is acceptable for your benefit. ¹ 

He must eat the same share they do, despite any profits he may gain from the sale of his family’s inheritance. ¹ 

Yet all of this fails to satisfy me so long as I have to see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate.”

But you say, ‘What will it profit you,’ ¹  and, ‘What do I gain by not sinning?’ ² 

For her ¹  benefit ²  is more profitable ³  than silver, and her ⁴  gain ⁵  is better ⁶  than gold.

lest strangers devour ¹  your strength, ²  and your labor ³  benefit ⁴  another man’s house.

If you are wise, you are wise to your own advantage, ¹  but if you are a mocker, ²  you alone must ³  bear it. ⁴ 

What benefit ¹  do people ²  get from all the effort which ³  they expend ⁴  on earth? ⁵ 

Two people are better than one, because they can reap ¹  more benefit ²  from their labor.

The more one argues with words, the less he accomplishes. ¹  How does that benefit him? ² 

י (Yod) Let a person ¹  sit alone in silence, when the Lord ²  is disciplining him. ³ 

For we have all received from his fullness one gracious gift after another. ¹ 

He was a lamp that was burning and shining, ¹  and you wanted to rejoice greatly for a short time ²  in his light.
