The Lord’s great day of judgment ¹  is almost here; it is approaching very rapidly! There will be a bitter sound on the Lord’s day of judgment; at that time warriors will cry out in battle. ² 

Come now, you rich! Weep and cry aloud ¹  over the miseries that are coming on you.

They will come and shout for joy on Mount Zion. They will be radiant with joy ¹  over the good things the Lord provides, the grain, the fresh wine, the olive oil, the young sheep and calves he has given to them. They will be like a well-watered garden and will not grow faint or weary any more.

Then ¹  Joshua read aloud all the words of the law, including the blessings and the curses, just as they are written in the law scroll.

When the Lord’s messenger finished speaking these words to all the Israelites, the people wept loudly. ¹ 

Then David and the men ¹  who were with him wept loudly ²  until they could weep no more. ³ 

The musicians Heman, Asaph, and Ethan were to sound the bronze cymbals;

“Even today my complaint is still bitter; ¹  his ²  hand is heavy despite ³  my groaning.

Praise ¹  our God, you nations! Loudly proclaim his praise! ² 

Come! Let’s sing for joy to the Lord! Let’s shout out praises to our protector who delivers us! ² 

Moab is my wash basin. ¹  I will make Edom serve me. ²  I will shout in triumph over Philistia.”

indeed, if ¹  you call out for ²  discernment ³  – raise your voice ⁴  for understanding –

Look, ambassadors ¹  cry out in the streets; messengers sent to make peace ²  weep bitterly.

When you finish reading this scroll aloud, tie a stone to it and throw it into the middle of the Euphrates River. ¹ 

Esau said to his father, “Do you have only that one blessing, my father? Bless me too!” ¹  Then Esau wept loudly. ² 

When Jotham heard the news, ¹  he went and stood on the top of Mount Gerizim. He spoke loudly to the people below, ²  “Listen to me, leaders of Shechem, so that God may listen to you!

So he read it before the plaza in front of the Water Gate from dawn till noon ¹  before the men and women and those children who could understand. ²  All the people were eager to hear ³  the book of the law.

צ (Tsade) Cry out ¹  from your heart ²  to the Lord, ³  O wall of Daughter Zion! ⁴  Make your tears flow like a river all day and all night long! ⁵  Do not rest; do not let your tears ⁶  stop!

For it is written: “Rejoice, O barren woman who does not bear children; ¹  break forth and shout, you who have no birth pains, because the children of the desolate woman are more numerous than those of the woman who has a husband.” ² 

He took the Book of the Covenant ¹  and read it aloud ²  to the people, and they said, “We are willing to do and obey ³  all that the Lord has spoken.”
