I am afraid that 1 when I come again, my God may humiliate me before you, and I will grieve for 2 many of those who previously sinned and have not repented of the impurity, sexual immorality, and licentiousness that they have practiced.
For indeed he was crucified by reason of weakness, but he lives because of God’s power. For we also are weak in him, but we will live together with him, because of God’s power toward you.
Put yourselves to the test to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize regarding yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you – unless, indeed, you fail the test! 1
Because of this I am writing these things while absent, so that when I arrive 1 I may not have to deal harshly with you 2 by using my authority – the Lord gave it to me for building up, not for tearing down!

Brothers and sisters, 1 if a person 2 is discovered in some sin, 3 you who are spiritual 4 restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness. 5 Pay close attention 6 to yourselves, so that you are not tempted too.
in that 1 our gospel did not come to you merely in words, 2 but in power and in the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction (surely you recall the character we displayed when we came among you to help you). 3
Now may the God of peace himself make you completely holy and may your spirit and soul and body be kept entirely blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
realizing that law 1 is not intended for a righteous person, but for lawless and rebellious people, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers,
But if a widow has children or grandchildren, they should first learn to fulfill their duty 1 toward their own household and so repay their parents what is owed them. 2 For this is what pleases God. 3
but now made visible through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus. He 1 has broken the power of death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel!
