To the Reubenites and Gadites I allocated the territory extending from Gilead as far as Wadi Arnon (the exact middle of the wadi was a boundary) all the way to the Wadi Jabbok, the Ammonite border.
Then Moses ascended from the deserts of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the summit of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho. 1 The Lord showed him the whole land – Gilead to Dan,
and ruled over Mount Hermon, Salecah, all of Bashan to the border of the Geshurites and Maacathites, and half of Gilead as far as the border of King Sihon of Heshbon.
Half of Gilead, Ashtaroth, and Edrei, cities in the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were assigned to the descendants of Makir son of Manasseh, to half the descendants of Makir by their clans.

Some of the Hebrews crossed over the Jordan River 1 to the land of Gad and Gilead. But Saul stayed at Gilgal; the entire army that was with him was terrified.
Geber son of Uri was in charge of the land of Gilead (the territory which had once belonged to King Sihon of the Amorites and to King Og of Bashan). He was sole governor of the area.
The king of Israel said to his servants, “Surely you recognize that Ramoth Gilead belongs to us, though we are hesitant to reclaim it from the king of Syria.” 1
(Geshur and Aram captured the towns of Jair, 1 along with Kenath and its sixty surrounding towns.) All these were descendants of Makir, the father of Gilead.
During the time of Saul they attacked the Hagrites and defeated them. They took over their territory in the entire eastern region of Gilead. 1
These were the sons of Abihail son of Huri, son of Jaroah, son of Gilead, son of Michael, son of Jeshishai, son of Jahdo, son of Buz.
But I will restore the flock of Israel to their own pasture. They will graze on Mount Carmel and the land of Bashan. They will eat until they are full 1 on the hills of Ephraim and the land of Gilead. 2
This is what the Lord says: “Because Damascus has committed three crimes 1 – make that four! 2 – I will not revoke my decree of judgment. 3 They ripped through Gilead like threshing sledges with iron teeth. 4
