The nations will hear of your devastating defeat. ¹  your cries of distress will echo throughout the earth. In the panic of their flight one soldier will trip over another and both of them will fall down defeated.” ² 

Fishermen will stand beside it; from Engedi to En-eglaim they will spread nets. They will catch many kinds of fish, like the fish of the Great Sea. ¹ 

“Then ¹  a second beast appeared, like a bear. It was raised up on one side, and there were three ribs ²  in its mouth between its teeth. ³  It was told, ⁴  ‘Get up and devour much flesh!’

I will bend Judah as my bow; I will load the bow with Ephraim, my arrow! ¹  I will stir up your sons, Zion, against yours, Greece, and I will make you, Zion, ²  like a warrior’s sword.

For this reason we also, from the day we heard about you, ¹  have not ceased praying for you and asking God ²  to fill ³  you with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,

to eat ¹  your fill ²  of the flesh of kings, the flesh of generals, ³  the flesh of powerful people, the flesh of horses and those who ride them, and the flesh of all people, both free and slave, ⁴  and small and great!”

But as for you, ¹  be fruitful and multiply; increase abundantly on the earth and multiply on it.”

Little by little ¹  I will drive them out before you, until you become fruitful and inherit the land.

Let the sea and everything in it shout! Let the fields and everything in them celebrate!

if ¹  the members of my household ²  have never said, ³  ‘If only there were ⁴  someone who has not been satisfied from Job’s ⁵  meat!’ –

Have you gone to the springs that fill the sea, ¹  or walked about in the recesses of the deep?

The law of their God controls their thinking; ¹  their ²  feet do not slip.

before the vindictive enemy who ridicules and insults me. ¹ 

As if with choice meat ¹  you satisfy my soul. ²  My mouth joyfully praises you, ³ 

Remember your covenant promises, ¹  for the dark regions of the earth are full of places where violence rules. ² 

He broke open rocks in the wilderness, and gave them enough water to fill the depths of the sea. ¹ 

For my life ¹  is filled with troubles and I am ready to enter Sheol. ² 

Let the sky rejoice, and the earth be happy! Let the sea and everything in it shout!

With trumpets and the blaring of the ram’s horn, shout out praises before the king, the Lord!

He waters the mountains from the upper rooms of his palace; ¹  the earth is full of the fruit you cause to grow. ²
