I have leaned on you since birth; ¹  you pulled me ²  from my mother’s womb. I praise you continually. ³ 

May his ancestors’ ¹  sins be remembered by the Lord! May his mother’s sin not be forgotten! ² 

Certainly ¹  you made my mind and heart; ²  you wove me together ³  in my mother’s womb.

Listen, ¹  my child, ²  to the instruction ³  from ⁴  your father, and do not forsake the teaching ⁵  from ⁶  your mother.

My child, guard the commands of your father and do not forsake the instruction of your mother.

A foolish child is a grief ¹  to his father, and bitterness to the mother who bore him. ² 

The one who robs ¹  his father ²  and chases away his mother is a son ³  who brings shame and disgrace.

The one who curses ¹  his father and his mother, his lamp ²  will be extinguished in the blackest ³  darkness.

Listen to your father who begot you, and do not despise your mother when she is old.

A rod and reproof ¹  impart ²  wisdom, but a child who is unrestrained ³  brings shame ⁴  to his mother. ⁵ 

As a mother consoles a child, ¹  so I will console you, and you will be consoled over Jerusalem.”

Cursed be the day I was born! May that day not be blessed when my mother gave birth to me. ¹ 

and say: “‘What a lioness was your mother among the lions! She lay among young lions; ¹  she reared her cubs.

That is why ¹  a man leaves ²  his father and mother and unites with ³  his wife, and they become a new family. ⁴ 

What’s more, ¹  she is indeed my sister, my father’s daughter, but not my mother’s daughter. She became my wife.

Then he ¹  brought out gold, silver jewelry, and clothing and gave them to Rebekah. He also gave valuable gifts to her brother and to her mother.

But Rebekah’s ¹  brother and her mother replied, “Let the girl stay with us a few more days, perhaps ten. Then she can go.”

They blessed Rebekah with these words: ¹  “Our sister, may you become the mother ²  of thousands of ten thousands! May your descendants possess the strongholds ³  of their enemies.”

So his mother told him, “Any curse against you will fall on me, ¹  my son! Just obey me! ²  Go and get them for me!”

So he went and got the goats ¹  and brought them to his mother. She ²  prepared some tasty food, just the way his father loved it.
