For I raise up my hand to heaven, and say, ‘As surely as I live forever,

Of Joseph he said: May the Lord bless his land with the harvest produced by the sky, ¹  by the dew, and by the depths crouching beneath;

so man lies down and does not rise; until the heavens are no more, ¹  they ²  will not awake nor arise from their sleep.

“Is not God on high in heaven? ¹  And see ²  the lofty stars, ³  how high they are!

For your loyal love extends beyond the sky, ¹  and your faithfulness reaches the clouds.

Rise up ¹  above the sky, O God! May your splendor cover the whole earth! ² 

For I say, “Loyal love is permanently established; ¹  in the skies you set up your faithfulness.” ² 

O Lord, the heavens ¹  praise your amazing deeds, as well as your faithfulness in the angelic assembly. ² 

The heavens belong to you, as does the earth. You made the world and all it contains. ¹ 

For as the skies are high above the earth, so his loyal love towers ¹  over his faithful followers. ² 

For your loyal love extends beyond the sky, ¹  and your faithfulness reaches the clouds.

Rise up ¹  above the sky, O God! May your splendor cover the whole earth! ² 

the one who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who remains forever faithful, ¹ 

He covers ¹  the sky with clouds, provides the earth with rain, and causes grass to grow on the hillsides. ² 

When he established the heavens, I was there; when he marked out the horizon ¹  over the face of the deep,

He is the one who sits on the earth’s horizon; ¹  its inhabitants are like grasshoppers before him. ²  He is the one who stretches out the sky like a thin curtain, ³  and spreads it out ⁴  like a pitched tent. ⁵ 

Yes, my hand founded the earth; my right hand spread out the sky. I summon them; they stand together.

for just as the sky ¹  is higher than the earth, so my deeds ²  are superior to ³  your deeds and my plans ⁴  superior to your plans.

Be amazed at this, O heavens! ¹  Be shocked and utterly dumbfounded,” says the Lord.

The Lord is the one who ¹  by his power made the earth. He is the one who by his wisdom established the world. And by his understanding he spread out the skies.
