Now ¹  in the synagogue ²  there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean ³  demon, and he cried out with a loud voice,

But Jesus ¹  said to him, “A man once gave a great banquet ²  and invited ³  many guests. ⁴ 

Then one of them, when he saw he was healed, turned back, praising ¹  God with a loud voice.

But they were insistent, ¹  demanding with loud shouts that he be crucified. And their shouts prevailed.

No one has greater love than this – that one lays down his life ¹  for his friends.

Great ¹  fear gripped ²  the whole church ³  and all who heard about these things.

Now Stephen, full of grace and power, was performing great wonders and miraculous signs ¹  among the people.

But they covered their ears, ¹  shouting out with a loud voice, and rushed at him with one intent.

he said with a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet.” ¹  And the man ²  leaped up and began walking. ³ 

But Paul called out loudly, ¹  “Do not harm yourself, ²  for we are all here!”

When ¹  they heard ²  this they became enraged ³  and began to shout, ⁴  “Great is Artemis ⁵  of the Ephesians!”

If we sowed spiritual blessings among you, is it too much to reap material things from you?

This mystery is great – but I am actually ¹  speaking with reference to Christ and the church.

as we wait for the happy fulfillment of our hope in the glorious appearing ¹  of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. ² 

Therefore since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast to our confession.

Now when God made his promise to Abraham, since he could swear by no one greater, he swore by himself,

For people ¹  swear by something greater than themselves, ²  and the oath serves as a confirmation to end all dispute. ³ 

He regarded abuse suffered for Christ ¹  to be greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for his eyes were fixed on ²  the reward.

But he gives greater grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.” ¹ 

yet even ¹  angels, who are much more powerful, ²  do not bring a slanderous ³  judgment against them before the Lord. ⁴
