As for the Avvites ¹  who lived in settlements as far west as Gaza, Caphtorites ²  who came from Crete ³  destroyed them and settled down in their place.)

This is how you are to deal with all those cities located far from you, those that do not belong to these nearby nations.

Joshua conquered the area between Kadesh Barnea and Gaza and the whole region of Goshen, all the way to Gibeon. ¹ 

He defeated the Philistines as far as Gaza and its territory, from the watchtower to the city fortress. ¹ 

if ¹  iniquity is in your hand – put it far away, ²  and do not let evil reside in your tents.

Remove ¹  your hand ²  far from me and stop making me afraid with your terror. ³ 

If you return to the Almighty, you will be built up; ¹  if you remove wicked behavior far from your tent,

when I said, ‘To here you may come ¹  and no farther, ²  here your proud waves will be confined’? ³ 

Do not abandon me, O Lord! My God, do not remain far away from me!

and the Lord has sent the people off to a distant place, and the very heart of the land is completely abandoned. ¹ 

To the Reubenites and Gadites I allocated the territory extending from Gilead as far as Wadi Arnon (the exact middle of the wadi was a boundary) all the way to the Wadi Jabbok, the Ammonite border.

You will be reestablished when I vindicate you. ¹  You will not experience oppression; ²  indeed, you will not be afraid. You will not be terrified, ³  for nothing frightening ⁴  will come near you.

I am the one who gives them reason to celebrate. ¹  Complete prosperity ²  is available both to those who are far away and those who are nearby,” says the Lord, “and I will heal them.

all the kings of the north, whether near or far from one another; and all the other kingdoms which are on the face of the earth. After all of them have drunk the wine of the Lord’s wrath, ¹  the king of Babylon ²  must drink it.

Do not listen to them, ¹  because their prophecies are lies. ²  Listening to them will only cause you ³  to be taken far away from your native land. I will drive you out of your country and you will die in exile. ⁴ 

Those both near and far from you will mock you, you with your bad reputation, ¹  full of turmoil.

Their territory extended ¹  from Aroer at the edge of the Arnon valley as far as Mount Siyon ²  – that is, Hermon –

and all of Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the distant ¹  sea,
