They curse, but you will bless. ¹  When they attack, they will be humiliated, ²  but your servant will rejoice.

The Lord’s curse ¹  is on the household ²  of the wicked, ³  but he blesses ⁴  the home ⁵  of the righteous. ⁶ 

People will curse ¹  the one who withholds grain, ²  but they will praise ³  the one who sells it. ⁴ 

The one who says to the guilty, ¹  “You are innocent,” ²  peoples will curse him, and nations will denounce ³  him.

Like a fluttering bird or like a flying swallow, so a curse without cause ¹  does not come to rest. ² 

Do not slander ¹  a servant to his master, lest he curse you, and you are found guilty. ² 

With it we bless the Lord ¹  and Father, and with it we curse people ²  made in God’s image.

The speaker went on to say, “This is a curse ¹  traveling across the whole earth. For example, according to the curse whoever steals ²  will be removed from the community; or on the other hand (according to the curse) whoever swears falsely will suffer the same fate.”

My father may touch me! Then he’ll think I’m mocking him ¹  and I’ll bring a curse on myself instead of a blessing.”

So his mother told him, “Any curse against you will fall on me, ¹  my son! Just obey me! ²  Go and get them for me!”

But God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream at night and warned him, ¹  “Be careful ²  that you neither bless nor curse Jacob.” ³ 

I have ¹  the power to do you harm, but the God of your father told me last night, ‘Be careful ²  that you neither bless nor curse Jacob.’ ³ 

You must not curse a deaf person or put a stumbling block in front of a blind person. ¹  You must fear ²  your God; I am the Lord.

and this water that causes the curse will go ¹  into your stomach, and make your abdomen swell and your thigh rot.” ²  Then the woman must say, “Amen, amen.” ³ 

But God said to Balaam, “You must not go with them; you must not curse the people, ¹  for they are blessed.” ² 

For I will honor you greatly, ¹  and whatever you tell me I will do. So come, put a curse on this nation for me.’”

How ¹  can I curse ²  one whom God has not cursed, or how can I denounce one whom the Lord has not denounced?

Then Balak said to Balaam, “What have you done to me? I brought you to curse my enemies, but on the contrary ¹  you have only blessed them!” ² 

Balak said to Balaam, “Come, please; I will take you to another place. Perhaps it will please God ¹  to let you curse them for me from there.” ² 

When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are to possess, you must pronounce the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal. ¹
