Its branches reached the Mediterranean Sea, ¹  and its shoots the Euphrates River. ² 

He opened up a rock and water flowed out; a river ran through dry regions.

The land of buzzing wings is as good as dead, ¹  the one beyond the rivers of Cush,

“Who is this that rises like the Nile, like its streams ¹  turbulent at flood stage?

The cherubim rose up; these were the living beings ¹  I saw at the Kebar River.

From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia, ¹  those who pray to me ²  will bring me tribute.

David defeated King Hadadezer of Zobah as far as Hamath, when he went to extend his authority ¹  to the Euphrates River. ² 

He ruled all the kingdoms from the Euphrates River ¹  to the land of the Philistines as far as the border of Egypt.

If the river rages, ¹  it is not disturbed, it is secure, ²  though the Jordan should surge up to its mouth.

The river’s channels bring joy to the city of God, ¹  the special, holy dwelling place of ²  the sovereign One. ³ 

He turned the sea into dry land; ¹  they passed through the river on foot. ²  Let us rejoice in him there! ³ 

By the rivers of Babylon we sit down and weep ²  when we remember Zion.

The canals ¹  will stink; ²  the streams of Egypt will trickle and then dry up; the bulrushes and reeds will decay,

I will make the trees on the mountains and hills wither up; ¹  I will dry up all their vegetation. I will turn streams into islands, ²  and dry up pools of water. ³ 

Pick up millstones and grind flour! Remove your veil, strip off your skirt, expose your legs, cross the streams!

If only you had obeyed my ¹  commandments, prosperity would have flowed to you like a river, ²  deliverance would have come to you like the waves of the sea. ³
