He ¹  answered, “Elijah does indeed come first and will restore all things.

The young man said to him, “I have wholeheartedly obeyed ¹  all these laws. ²  What do I still lack?”

And whatever you ask in prayer, if you believe, ¹  you will receive.”

I tell you the truth, ¹  this generation will be held responsible for all these things! ² 

All these evils come from within and defile a person.”

The man ¹  said to him, “Teacher, I have wholeheartedly obeyed ²  all these laws ³  since my youth.” ⁴ 

First the gospel must be preached to all nations.

So ¹  when the devil ²  had completed every temptation, he departed from him until a more opportune time. ³ 

So ¹  the news ²  about him spread into all areas of the region. ³ 

So ¹  when they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed ²  him.

But give from your heart to those in need, ¹  and ²  then everything will be clean for you. ³ 

The Pharisees ¹  (who loved money) heard all this and ridiculed ²  him.

I fast twice ¹  a week; I give a tenth ²  of everything I get.’

The man ¹  replied, “I have wholeheartedly obeyed ²  all these laws ³  since my youth.” ⁴ 

because these are days of vengeance, ¹  to fulfill ²  all that is written.

Then ¹  he told them a parable: “Look at the fig tree and all the other trees. ² 

All things were created ¹  by him, and apart from him not one thing was created ²  that has been created. ³ 

The Father loves the Son and has placed all things under his authority. ¹ 

Now they understand ¹  that everything ²  you have given me comes from you,

Actually, there are many advantages. ¹  First of all, ²  the Jews ³  were entrusted with the oracles of God. ⁴
