Now Thomas (called Didymus), ¹  one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.

After he had gone through those regions ¹  and spoken many words of encouragement ²  to the believers there, ³  he came to Greece, ⁴ 

But when Cephas ¹  came to Antioch, ²  I opposed him to his face, because he had clearly done wrong. ³ 

Now Enoch, the seventh in descent beginning with Adam, ¹  even prophesied of them, ²  saying, “Look! The Lord is coming ³  with thousands and thousands ⁴  of his holy ones,

because the great day of their ¹  wrath has come, and who is able to withstand it?” ² 

But while everyone was sleeping, an enemy came and sowed weeds ¹  among the wheat and went away.

So he said, “Come.” Peter got out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus.

When he left there, Jesus went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up a mountain, where he sat down.

just as the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom ¹  for many.”

And they knew nothing until the flood came and took them all away. ¹  It will be the same at the coming of the Son of Man. ² 

But while they had gone to buy it, the bridegroom arrived, and those who were ready went inside with him to the wedding banquet. Then ¹  the door was shut.

Now after the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

Now ¹  in those days Jesus came from Nazareth ²  in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan River. ³ 

Now after John was imprisoned, ¹  Jesus went into Galilee and proclaimed the gospel ²  of God. ³ 

And as he sowed, some seed ¹  fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it.

Then the woman, with fear and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before him and told him the whole truth.

Then ¹  Jesus ²  went out again from the region of Tyre ³  and came through Sidon ⁴  to the Sea of Galilee in the region of the Decapolis. ⁵ 

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom ¹  for many.”

But when this son of yours ¹  came back, who has devoured ²  your assets with prostitutes, ³  you killed the fattened calf ⁴  for him!’

People ¹  were eating, ²  they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage – right up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then ³  the flood came and destroyed them all. ⁴
