When he met us in Assos, ¹  we took him aboard ²  and went to Mitylene. ³ 

As a result, ¹  death is at work in us, but life is at work in you. ² 

Our affection for you is not restricted, ¹  but you are restricted in your affections for us.

who also told us of your love in the Spirit.

Protect that good thing ¹  entrusted to you, through the Holy Spirit who lives within us.

And the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us, for after saying, ¹ 

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, ¹  we must get rid of every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and run with endurance the race set out for us,

And the person who keeps his commandments resides ¹  in God, ²  and God ³  in him. Now by this ⁴  we know that God ⁵  resides in us: by the Spirit he has given us.

and forgive us our debts, as we ourselves ¹  have forgiven our debtors.

The disciples said to him, “Where can we get enough bread in this desolate place to satisfy so great a crowd?”

Tell us then, what do you think? Is it right ¹  to pay taxes ²  to Caesar ³  or not?”

“Tell us, when will these things ¹  happen? And what will be the sign that all these things are about to take place?”

They had been asking each other, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?”

Jesus ¹  sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover ²  for us to eat.” ³ 

So then the Jewish leaders ¹  responded, ²  “What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?” ³ 

In the law Moses commanded us to stone to death ¹  such women. ²  What then do you say?”

And God, who knows the heart, ¹  has testified ²  to them by giving them the Holy Spirit just as he did to us, ³ 

we have unanimously ¹  decided ²  to choose men to send to you along with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul,

For it seemed best to the Holy Spirit and to us ¹  not to place any greater burden on you than these necessary rules: ² 

and are advocating ¹  customs that are not lawful for us to accept ²  or practice, ³  since we are ⁴  Romans.”
