He ordered, “Whether they come in peace or to do battle, take them alive.” ¹ 

Your children hurry back, while those who destroyed and devastated you depart.

When they come in, the prince will come in with them, and when they go out, he will go out.

The chariot with the black horses is going to the north country and the white ones are going after them, but the spotted ones are going to the south country.

Their young grow strong, and grow up in the open; ¹  they go off, and do not return to them.

But I will execute judgment on the nation that they will serve. ¹  Afterward they will come out with many possessions.

On the seventh day some of the people went out to gather it, but they found nothing.

¹ These are the journeys of the Israelites, who went out of the land of Egypt by their divisions under the authority ²  of Moses and Aaron.

They marched out of the city with the servants of the district governors in the lead and the army behind them.

Raiding parties went out from Syria and took captive from the land of Israel a young girl, who became a servant to Naaman’s wife.

‘Some of your very own descendants whom you father ¹  will be taken away and will be made eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’”

the clans of Kiriath Jearim – the Ithrites, Puthites, Shumathites, and Mishraites. (The Zorathites and Eshtaolites descended from these groups.) ¹ 

Like ¹  wild donkeys in the desert they ²  go out to their labor, ³  seeking diligently for food; the wasteland provides ⁴  food for them and for their children.

‘Some of your very own descendants whom you father ¹  will be taken away and will be made eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’”

“I announced events beforehand, ¹  I issued the decrees and made the predictions; ²  suddenly I acted and they came to pass.

“People of Judah, ¹  get out of Babylon quickly! Leave the land of Babylonia! ²  Be the first to depart! ³  Be like the male goats that lead the herd.

All these strong ones ¹  are scattering; they have sought permission to go and walk about over the earth.” The Lord had said, “Go! Walk about over the earth!” So they are doing so.
