“For a short time I abandoned ¹  you, but with great compassion I will gather you.

Small and great are ¹  there, and the slave is free ²  from his master. ³ 

The Lord says to Edom, ¹  “I will certainly make you small among nations. I will make you despised by all humankind.

The Lord says, ¹  “Look! I will ²  make you a weak nation; ³  you will be greatly despised!

The next morning Jonathan, along with a young servant, went out to the field to meet David.

A wolf will reside ¹  with a lamb, and a leopard will lie down with a young goat; an ox and a young lion will graze together, ²  as a small child leads them along.

When they had completely consumed the earth’s vegetation, I said, “Sovereign Lord, forgive Israel! ¹  How can Jacob survive? ²  He is too weak!” ³ 

Jonathan ¹  said to him, “By no means are you going to die! My father does nothing ²  large or small without making me aware of it. ³  Why would my father hide this matter from me? It just won’t happen!”

Was it just today that I began to inquire of God on his behalf? Far be it from me! The king should not accuse ¹  his servant or any of my father’s house. For your servant is not aware of all this – not in whole or in part!” ² 

When Abigail went back to Nabal, he was holding a banquet in his house like that of the king. Nabal was having a good time ¹  and was very intoxicated. She told him absolutely nothing ²  until morning’s light.
