So they began to discuss with one another about having no bread. ¹ 

I am the bread of life. ¹ 

Now ¹  they had forgotten to take bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat.

Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all share the one bread.

Give us today our daily bread, ¹ 

When the disciples went to the other side, they forgot to take bread.

So ¹  they began to discuss this among themselves, saying, “It is because we brought no bread.”

Or the seven loaves for the four thousand and how many baskets you took up?

Now ¹  Jesus ²  went home, and a crowd gathered so that they were not able to eat.

Now ¹  there were five thousand men ²  who ate the bread. ³ 

because they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened.

He asked them, “How many loaves do you have?” They replied, “Seven.”

Give us each day our daily bread, ¹ 

So they said to him, “Sir, ¹  give us this bread all the time!”

He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. He ¹  gave them to his ²  disciples to serve the people, and he divided the two fish among them all.

Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but my Father is giving you the true bread from heaven.

This ¹  is the bread that came down from heaven; it is not like the bread your ancestors ²  ate, but then later died. ³  The one who eats ⁴  this bread will live forever.”

Is ¹  there anyone among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?

They ¹  said to him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”

The disciples said to him, “Where can we get enough bread in this desolate place to satisfy so great a crowd?”
