And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

These things may be treated as an allegory, ¹  for these women represent two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai bearing children for slavery; this is Hagar.

Then ¹  two men, Moses and Elijah, ²  began talking with him. ³ 

You ¹  received the law by decrees given by angels, ²  but you did not obey ³  it.” ⁴ 

These two ¹  went down and prayed for them so that they would receive the Holy Spirit.

Absolutely not! How can we who died to sin still live in it?

You will be enriched in every way so that you may be generous on every occasion, ¹  which is producing through us thanksgiving to God,

But the Jerusalem above is free, ¹  and she is our mother.

You who are trying to be declared righteous ¹  by the law have been alienated ²  from Christ; you have fallen away from grace!

Now the works of the flesh ¹  are obvious: ²  sexual immorality, impurity, depravity,

Because they are callous, they have given themselves over to indecency for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness. ¹ 

For there is no one here like him who will readily demonstrate his deep concern for you. ¹ 

But these assets I have come to regard as liabilities because of Christ.

So do not throw away your confidence, because it ¹  has great reward.

“Everyone ¹  who hears these words of mine and does them is like ²  a wise man ³  who built his house on rock.

“Watch out for false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are voracious wolves. ¹
